I have 4 female short hair chi's and one male long haired. With my empty nest these are my babies. They are getting old and I hope I have them with me for many years. Two of them suffer from arthritis. One of them lost a leg. One of them has chronic ear problems with arthritis. My male is perfect but he has allergies. Other than having my hands full with their medical problems I LOVE them all to death! They are my babies and I would just die if anything happened to them. They have a crate with a doggie door in my bedroom. I only let them out in the house for a while because they will go potty wherever. In my room, I'd say 90% of the time they do use the doggy door to go outside. I don't use doggy pads unless it's raining or too cold outside. Otherwise, they get lazy and won't go outside and use the pad. BUT sometimes (alot of times) they do potty in my room and it's exhausting when there's a doggy door two feet away with a back yard out there for them! But I just don't give up. I pulled my carpets and tiled my bedroom so I can just mop it up with HOT water. I've tried EVERYTHING to stop their little accidents and I think they're just spoiled and they get lazy and it's my fault. I am thinking of locking them up at night in the kennel so they won't sneak out and do their little accidents but I really hate to do that. I have tried to use the "zapper" things and I was usually the one that got zapped! lol Then I tried "No Pee" from Plant Urine and that didn't work. My male loves the bottom of my bedspread so now my bed is horribly made with the ends tucked under the mattress to keep him from ruining them and thinking they are his "pee posts" to use at his pleasure! lol With all this...I STILL wouldn't trade them. They are my babies.

My chihuahua is a year old, she is so funny, loves to play, gets along great with other small dogs and any animal, loves kids, loves everyone she meets and loves me more then anything in the world, she is my best friend and i love her, anyone who wants a great friend should get one of these dogs, i wouldn't change a thing about her

I have a 1yr old chihuahua that belongs to my daughter who is in college and will be with me for another 2 years. I've had him since April '08. He is a wonderful companion and is smart as a whip. When he lived with my daughter she had him trained to the puppy pad, since living with me I walk him so he has not used the puppy pad since a couple of days after he arrived. Now he won't use the puppy pad at all; I'm concerned because I work and I'm away for the home for at least 8 hours. Any suggestions as to what I should do?

I have a long haired Chihuahua, and he is VERY loyal to ME and some of my family. The only problem I have with him is that he is hard headed. This type of dog is hard to house train. Once again mine is VERY loyal!

OMG Lolita you truly just described my life I even live in Texas HA HA! Cowboy is the same way. It doesn't matter how many times he goes outside hhe still comes in and spot! I HAVE A LOUSY DOGGIE DOOR TOO and my two are lazy too! They hate the rain and cold so thats a prroblem too! I have resorted to a male diaper aka the weenie wrap and I am consently changing the kotex, he hates it and shows it by flipping himself on his back trying to rub it off and I worry that if he stays too long in a dirty one ie if he goes as soon as I leave for work I don't want him to get an infection.
