I think that this breed sounds like a good bread for an apartment. also it sounds like this breed is very good with a small family.

We got our Cairn Terrier a year ago at a shelter. She was 10 months old. She was so hyper at first but over the year has calmed down a lot. We live in a townhouse and were looking for a lap dog that doesn't shed. We absolutely love her. She has so much character. And she's so adorable.

According to this site, Cairn Terriers are "moderate" with children. However, I have had my dog for almost 12 years and he has been the most wonderful dog with children. He is VERY gentle. I would classify cairn terriers as wonderful with children.

I would recommend the breed for anyone looking for a very friendly, happy, playful, loving and good-natured dog. My one year-old loves everyone she meets and is a beloved friend not only to my family, but to our neighbors, too!

I've had dogs my whole life, different sizes and breeds. Once I got a Cairn, I know I'll never get another breed ever again. They have everything a person could ask for in a companion. They're gentle, fun, sweet with kids and other dogs, very easily trained and little or no health problems! What a dog!
