From Krystal, Kentucky I think this breed of dog gets a bad reputation. My dog has the best temperament
- she is an angel. She gets along wonderfully with children, family and other
animals. I would recommend the breed to anyone.
From Skye, Portland, Oregon I agree wholeheartedly with Krystal -- I picked up my bull terrier as a
stray puppy and he is smart, loyal, loving, and not aggressive. He is also
great with kids as well as very dog and people friendly. People have
reacted with fear when they see him (Oh no! A scary Pit Bull!) but he
doesn't have a fighting bone in his body. He's all love.
From Clara, UK I totally agree. Only people that have no Knowledge of the breed believe the
bad press, I have a gorgeous bully 9 yrs old, loves kids from 6 month old babies
to my 13 yr old nephew, they hug him, he gets poked patted dressed up the lot
and never a murmur of complaint or annoyance do i get from him, he is the
soppiest creature alive! its just that they look so strong! but i would
recommend this breed to most people, the joy they give is unending. Fantastic.
From Heidi, Maryland I have a bull terrier we rescued from our local humane society (www.toad.net/~hscc/).
She is a little bit of a mix but is at least 80% bull terrier. She is one
of the best dogs we've ever had. She is kid-friendly, dog-friendly,
cat-friendly, rabbit-friendly, and even chicken friendly! She is very
attentive and alert. She lets us know when someone is at the door and she
loves watching animal planet. She does spook a little easy...but we think
this has something to do with her past. Before we got her, she was picked
up as a stray by the local shelter at about 3yrs old and then rescued by our
humane society. i have only met 2 other bull terriers here in southern MD.
One was also a rescue and has gone on to help people by visiting hospitals and
nursing homes. I think if raised in a loving but somewhat firm way (as the
bully breeds get very happy/excited very easily), almost any bull terrier can
turn out to be a wonderful family companion.
From Rope, Texas
Bull Terriers have to be the funniest dogs I have ever been around...The fun and
antics are non stop! My Maggie is great with my 2 kids. She is very
loving, attentive, and most importantly, patient with them. She is great
with cats, dogs, horses, and people. However, if someone did try to harm us,
they would have A LOT of dog to deal with.
