From Chasiti, Nashville We have had bichons for 5 years and he is the sweetest thing, he gets along
with any animal we bring into the house. He is never aggressive, he is wonderful
with children! He has never barked at any stranger. His hair is very difficult
to keep clean and neat, but he doesn't shed.
From Kat, Vermont We have owned several bichons, so I speak from experience when I say that
you don't want to get a bichon if you are at work all day. They need a lot of
human companionship to be happy and not have a lot of training problems. Plus
the coat care is demanding of our time. You need to be conscientious about daily
brushing to have a bichon frise. bichon@i-love-dogs.com
From Gloria J. Haynes, Hammond, Indiana I have owned five(5) bichons. They are fun loving, good with children and
very faithful. Some of them do need special care, but on the whole they are
precious gems from heaven. I have owned 2 bichons at one time and still do. I do
not recommend that you leave a bichon at home for more than 3 hours at a time.
From Amanda, Dallas, Texas I have owned Bichons for the past 20 years. We currently have 4 spayed
and neutered furbabies, 3 adults and one puppy whom we bought from owners who
didn't want her. Our dogs ARE our family! They are smart, do not shed, love us
and each other dearly, and are not destructive when we are away. My best
recommendations for anyone considering a Bichon are these: Bichons do better with another Bichon or compatible small dog than as an
only dog. They are extremely sociable. The breed matures very slowly. Housebreaking is slow and patience is
required.
From Timothy Foley, Connecticut What a wonderful dog? Over they years we have owned 4 dogs and foster
parented at least 5 dogs. Our male Sonny is loving, adores our children,
loves to nap with me (I am disabled) and a pure source of amusement.
Grooming is a constant factor, he learned everything but house training easily.
He does like to drive our older dog crazy (who is a shepherd lab mix? and at
least 12 years old -a rescue dog). He's full of energy but likes his rest
periods too. He loves too chew so we provide lots of chew toys and stuffed
animals that he will demolish. Some days we find the living room full of
stuffing and a squeaky with little left of the original toy. Likes my son's toys
as well but this is diverted by providing lots of his own toys. He's a
lover and would recommend to anyone looking for a smaller dog but you must be
able to provide lots of attention - not good for a two income family.
