This summer I welcomed a Bishon Frise to my home. This was after the death of my beloved dog Teddy. She was a part of our family. When my husband came home from work as she got older she would bark until he would pet her because she had a hard time getting up.
Well, we looked to replace teddy and found out that was not possible. Teddy lives on in my heart and hopefully I will be reunited with her someday. My Bishon is 5 months old she is already housebroken with the use of a crate and a good schedule. One thing I did do was I got a cat liter pan and put paper in there. so when "Sasha is running and playing and has to go she will fly up the steps and run to the "potty pan. I must say all the negatives I heard about Bishon's being difficult they need to utilitze the crate a schedule and a potty pan. I love this dog so much. She hasn't replaced Teddy. No one ever could but she sure did help me with dealing with the pain. I love my Bishon and would highly recommend this breed. I also have a German shepherd they love to play together. Well the bishon loves to make him chase her around the table. We have replaced a lot of sadness and sorrow with much joy.l

We have had bichons for 5 years and he is the sweetest thing, he gets along with any animal we bring into the house. He is never aggressive, he is wonderfulwith children! He has never barked at any stranger. His hair is very difficult to keep clean and neat, but he doesn't shed.

We have owned several bichons, so I speak from experience when I say that you don't want to get a bichon if you are at work all day. They need a lot of human companionship to be happy and not have a lot of training problems. Plus the coat care is demanding of our time. You need to be conscientious about daily brushing to have a bichon frise. bichon@i-love-dogs.com

I have owned five(5) bichons. They are fun loving, good with children and very faithful. Some of them do need special care, but on the whole they are precious gems from heaven. I have owned 2 bichons at one time and still do. I do not recommend that you leave a bichon at home for more than 3 hours at a time.

I purchased a four month old Bichon Frise who was returned to a friends pet store; she is beautiful. At the time, I did not have a 50 x 50 vinyl fence or doggie door. Having the luxury of being at home, it did not take me long to house break her. I would take her out 8 or 12 times a day until I caught on to her schedule; feeding her the same time each day. Within a week, during a storm, we let her sleep with us and she never messed in our bed. Our second Bichon, which I purchased as an 8 week old was even easier to train. I would never use crates or piddle pads. If you truly want a foolproof way to train a dog, get a doggie door which leads to a fenced in yard for them to run and play. I realize not everyone has this luxury. I would not have a dog in an apartment; its not fair to them to be crated. This is only my opinion; but I spoil my dogs, even cooking for them and giving them bottled water. I have a crib with one side lowered pulled up to my side of the bed for them to sleep.
