I've been the proud owner of Darla, a deaf albino australian shepherd for the past year and a half. She's gorgeous, smart as can be, and just a joy to have around. It was a little difficult at first, since she is deaf, but we've all grown acclimated to each other now. She waits by the door around the time my husband comes home from work, and sits and waits until he opens it! It's cute, because she also tries to be a 50lb lap dog, which sometimes doesn't work out the way she planned :) I got her from the Humane Society, and since we've moved to Houston from Albuquerque, she no longer has the dry skin/nose from the dry heat of New Mexico being albino.

A shy Aussie is a super shy dog. Alone he was lost. With a second dog to keep him company he came out of his shell.

I have the most awesome Australian shepherd, Jake. They are very smart, loyal, active, kid- loving and protective dogs. If you have the room and time to have one of these precious animals I would highly recommend it. If not please don't consider it: they need lots of exercise and it is very, very , unfair to just keep them in a house or back yard with no attention. blazingbrunette7@hotmail.com

Very, very intelligent breed, eager to learn, very eager to please. However, they need to be kept busy with all that intelligence and energy. Also big lovers. When I had my Aussie (sadly has passed on) she would notice the smallest changes in the level of your voice so you had to keep your voice perfectly level when training her. If my voice raised even the slightest she would notice immediately, hang her head and tuck her tail.
