Afghan Hounds are the most wonderful dogs. Full of curiosity and mischief, they are also gentle and loving. My two absolutely love people and visit nursing homes to spread their love. They are hysterically funny and always surprise you with their intelligence.

An Afghan Hound can be a wonderful, actually humorous, friend in a fur suit. Very loving, but doesn't show it all the time (not needy). Sometimes playful, sometimes seeks solitude, sometimes full of mischief (nests in the dirty clothes just when you want to start washing them, or will contort and flop in order not to be brushed). They are brilliant, able to figure things out quickly - with a treat and praise every time, you can potty train one in a week (it's intense that first week taking a dog outside every hour or two, but WELL worth it). Tolerant, will put up with your antics (like insisting upon the dog wearing a snood when eating - keeps food out of their long ear hair). This breed is versatile, and can be a spectacular companion (they talk like Shepherds). Afghan's eyes, and that beautiful coat (you have to invest a little time each day combing, brushing, detangling) are stunning, but it's the quirky independent attitude that will win your heart.
