We had our first Aussie (Thermo) for close to 12 yrs. before we lost him. He was extremely smart, sensitive to all that went on in the house and a great guard dog. We have had a variety of different dogs in our lives but the Aussies are the greatest. We now have our second one, Hal. Hal was about 18 months when we got him and was a rescue dog. He was extremely timid and would not come to you when you called him. It was on his terms or not at all. We have now had him for about 8 months and he has full and complete trust in my husband and I. He gets along very well with our big hound dog Lady and has never chewed anything. He has made a few jobs for himself, as they love to keep busy. (LINEBREAK)I also suggested this breed to a friend who said her husband did not want a dog because they were difficult to train, etc. However, when she adopted a 2 yr. old Aussie, he fell in love with her. Said he could not believe how smart she was. I suggested this breed for them because they are a middle age couple that do not want a pup type chewing on things or a dog that needs constant training. They are very pleased with their Aussie - I am an absolute lover of the breed.
