Why Can't I Buy A Gerbil In California?

Tools: Email Bookmark Comment

Why can't I buy a gerbil in california? If I buy one in another state, can I bring it into california? (Nora Ayala - California)

It is unlawful to import, transport or possess gerbils in California. This is to prevent gerbils escaping into the wild where they would thrive in California - potentially damaging crops and becoming as much of a pest as mice or rats.
