Gerbils Destroys His Toys By Chewing

Tools: Email Bookmark Comment

My gerbil keeps chewing the plastic toys he has to pieces. What can I do? (Ewan Smith - United Kingdom)

Gerbils are indeed the most prolific gnawers you will ever see. Try to keep him otherwise occupied: give him plenty of wooden toys (such as clean branches) which will take longer to chew and will help keep his teeth trim. Alternatively give him the cardboard tubing from within toilet paper. Unless he is too fat, he will be able to run through this and will demolish it by chewing in less than half an hour.
