QuestionMy horse suffers from hock rubs - have you any suggestions on how to get rid of them? (Robin Kennedy - Wisconsin)

Answer

This depends on where the rubs are on your horse. If your horse's hocks are rubbing together when he moves, they will be on the inside, and your farrier will be able to help by making small changes in the trimming of your horse's feet. If the hock interference is too much for small foot changes to affect it, you may need to use hock boots to prevent further irritation. This also applies if the rubs are on the backs of his hocks.
