Ahhhh, Christopher Lee...the ultimate Dracula of all time! Nobody does it better....not even Bela Lugosi, but that's my personal opinion. This 1966 Hammer film was the sequel to Horror of Dracula. Two couples traveling to the Carpathian Mountains get a warning from Father Sandor, the Abbot of Kleinberg, telling them not to proceed with their plans. Despite his advice, they proceed with their plan.....after all there wouldn't be a movie if they didn't! As usual, it seems to always get dark when the coachmen in Lee's movies refuse to go further and abandon their passengers to the night to fend for themselves. Just when their luck seems to have run out, a mysterious black coach appears and delivers them to the eerie castle where the guest are given plenty of hospitality. Of course, Dracula needs to be revived by blood after a particularly long, long sleep but one of the guest provides that nicely. Rather gorey here, for the 60's, with the blood letting from a slit throat. Barbara Shelly and Andrew Keir give a good show in this one since they are the only two to get away from the castle. All Lee's Dracula flicks are fun to watch and I never grow tired of seeing him play the Prince of Darkness, getting killed and being brought back to life somehow. Sure, maybe they seem hokey by today's standards, but nobody played Dracula better.Read full review
I love Christopher lEE as Dracula I grew up with all of his dracula films along with the great Peter Cushing.Christopher will always be remembered as the best vampire of all times. He was tall, dark, and attractive. He looked the part and always played them very well it don't get any better. His movies were always filmed in castles in other countries; out in the woods perfect settings.Especially in the castles you don't see horror movies like that any more.I never get tired of watching them my children like them too.I wished I could have been one of the girls in his shows lucky ladies!I highly reccomend any of his dracula films he is a legend, one of the horror greats, and will always be in are hearts! A fan since childhood, Sincerly Melanie!
I love this movie! Christopher Lee is my favorite actor and his performance is great... scared the crap out of me when I saw it for the first time as a kid. The quality of the VHS tape is excellent and it ran smoothly from beginning to end........ would highly recommend it to any Hammer Horror fan!
I have loved the work of Sir Christopher since I was 9-and this is the shining star of my collection. The print is pristine and I loved the additional material about how they made the movie which was from amateur 8mm footage . Its my favorite of the Dracula series. I am thrilled to own it.
Its a movie I always liked as a young boy and was never able to get a copy of until just lately. I liked Bela Lugosi best as Dracula but this one was so evil it was just captivating and those Hammer films were more action packed then the Universal ones.
