I have actually purchased two of these. The first one I purchased a few months ago, and quickly realized that rather than transport it from my home to my vacation home, it is easier to just buy a second one, which is what I did. It is quite bulky, and even though it folds (tri-fold), it does take up space when you might need that space for something else. I had read the reviews about having to take time with your dogs to use it. The sandpaper type bottom/ramp is definitely annoying to the dogs (2 @ 70+ lbs. each), but reading about how some others got around this, I found a very easy way to over come that, plus provide safety to the dogs. I just went to the local Home Depot, purchased a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet 6' length with light rubber backing), then cut it to the width and length needed for the ramp with scissors. Viola! The nice thing about that carpet is that it rolls up or folds up for really easy storage. The dogs like the carpet, and it does not slip or slide when they go up or down. Now, the dogs still do not like going up it, but if you walk beside them, and escort them up, they are just fine. Both dogs are over 10 years old, and can no longer make the jump from the ground into the back of a 4-Runner, so this really makes all the difference in being able to take them with us. Debated building one, but after determining the cost of the supplies needed to do that, plus my time to build it, just did not make any sense. This is strong, sturdy, and does what you need it to do. I do believe that if you have puppies or young dogs, they would learn to traverse it quicker and without hesitation , but my old guys just need a little more security with me at their side. Worth every penny. Glad I now own two.Read full review

The skid-resistant tread keeps my senior mini dachshund from sliding off, even in the rain. She is not really sure about it yet, but we are working on it. The ramp's surface has highly visible, reflective material that aids in guiding my girl up and down the ramp. The extra wide ramp keeps her from falling off as she struggles to maintain her balance due to new medication. Side reflectors keep us from tripping over the ramp late at night or in the early morning hours. These increase the ramp's visibility so no one will get hurt. Rubber grippers on the bottom of the ramp help it maintain a stable position and it can be secured to your deck/patio with bolts. If you want to move it around, the folding design reduces storage space at home or on the go. The carry handle makes for easy transportation when you need to move it. It even has a strap with D-ring to attach to the latch in the back of your SUV for added stability for your pet.Read full review

I did quite a bit of research, and read a lot of reviews before purchasing this pet ramp. I did not think it was going to be easy for my dogs because they can be stubborn, but after coaxing them with treats, it worked for one but not the other. As for the other, all it took was both my husband and myself, walking on each side of the dog/ramp to guide him in, and was not at all a problem on the first try. Neither dog liked the sandpaper feel; something they are not used to feeling. To take care of that, I went to the local hardware store, and purchased two yards of indoor/outdoor, thin carpet and cut it to the width of the ramp. Once I laid it on the ramp, the dogs only felt carpet on their paws, which they are used to. Combined with the treats, the guiding, and the carpet, it did the trick. We used it for the first time for a real trip a week ago, and no problem coming and going. I am looking to buy a second to leave it at our second home rather carrying it back and forth. Definitely would buy again, and will buy again.Read full review
