Janome 300e is the best value for money. There are newer embroidery machine but for what I use it, this is perfect. I bought it to make altar cloth and for my home use. I like it very well because it is easy to use and easy to understand the features and it is not complicated. I love Janome product because I haven't had any problem with it. You buy other brand and it will give you a lot of problem from the very beginning you bought it. I think one reason is where it is made and who made it. Janome is made in Japan. They are built to last. I said this because I have so many experiences with products made in other country like China.
This is an excellent stand alone embroidery machine. With the touch of a button, you can embroider, monogram, applique, & personalize. The machine has built in lettering & numerous designs for you to stitch. Also, it uses a JEF format so you can download designs and load them via a Compact flash card (if you have trouble finding these, they are usually available at reasonable prices on Ebay). This is my favorite feature. I have 2 of these sewing machines & often have both of them stitching at the same time. They have never disappointed me, & the creative possibilities are endless.

The Janome 300E is an amazing embroidery/monogramming machine that is worth every penny! The only difference between the 300 and the 350E is the addition of a USB port in addition to the flash drive. I own two of the Janome 300's and couldn't be happier with them. I also have a Brother 350SE that does both monogramming and converts to a sewing machine and there is absolutely NO COMPARISON. The Janome is extremely user friendly and I use Monogram Wizard software with mine and it works like a dream with endless possibilities. This program truly makes the 300E an amazing machine. I can't sing the praises of this machine highly enough. The Janome 300E is a lot of "bang for the buck". If you're considering purchasing an embellishment only (this machine does only embroidery and monogramming)... check the cost on others... the Janome is a superior machine for a very reasonable cost.Read full review
I just bought this 300e from an embroidery machine dealer. It came with all 3 hoops, and a bonus multi spool holder. I know the computer tech is a little older, but memory cards and adapters are still available. All I need this machine to do is put names and simple designs on things I sell. After 3 days of practice, I am confident to offer personalization to my customers. I had some trouble with rats nests at first, but it was due to not having the right stabilizer. If a fabric has any stretch at all, you are going to need a good iron on stabilizer. And avoid metallic that are not meant for this machine. They can be too thick, and will break. I found that I'll need minor tension adjustments. There is a small learning curve, but I think I have this machine understood! I'll be happy as long as my needs suit the machine. I am a fan of older machines in general, they are simply built better for longevity.Read full review

I like the price point of the product in order to jumpstart my business venture. I like that it is easy to thread and get started. It is easy to transfer designs, and as far as using the touchscreen features to navigate, it is pretty user friendly. My dislikes are the difficult in hooping items. There are only two sizes of hoops available, so you can't fit small baby items or bookbags, totebags, etc... There is also no clearance under the hoop, so it doesn't allow for much room to let your excess fabric hang down. This requires that you hold onto the excess while the machine is embroidering to make sure that it doesn't get caught up on anything.
