I bought this vintage Browning Nomad Stalker with the intention of giving it to my adult nephew that has expressed an interest in getting into archery. I am hoping to steer him into the tradional archery path and away from the mechanical arrow launchers. There are many qualities that make this a good bow for a novice to start with. First: It has a realatively light draw weight of 45Lbs. this will allow for the development of proper shooting form. If one starts out with a bow that is too heavy, typically poor form and bad habits develop and become ingrained. Also, struggling to pull back a bow that is too heavy robs all the pleasure and fun out of archery. Second: With an AMO length of 52" this bow will be very handy in the brush and from treestands. 52" is just about the perfect length for a real hunting bow. The only thing I was less than pleased with about this bow was multiple screw holes where previous owners had attached sights and some kind of quiver. These were noted in the item description, and were purely cosmetic. I glued wooden plugs in all the holes, sanded them flush and refinished the bow's handle. Now they are barely visible if one looks for them. This bow shoots very smoothly, and is quiet. To be honest, I have considered keeping it for myself, but probably won't since I already have a rack full of nice longbows and recurves.Read full review
I have been shooting traditional bows for years, but only NEW bows. I have always wanted a short "Bush bow" and an older classic bow. The Browning Nomad fit both requirements. Everything I read on the Internet was very complementary of this bow and it didn't disappoint when I shot it. I love the size, weight, and most of all the performance of this bow. It may have been my first Browning, but it won't be my last.

I bought this recurve bow to resume my archery passion.I love the american bow of sixties and seventies, but I had many dubt...a 40 years old bow!!The bow arrived and is perfect:no limb twist,no drilled holes or stress lines,no delamination, only some cosmetic scratch from normal use.Shoot wonderfully and sweet,is light and manageable.A sweet, quiet, short 46# bow, like build yesterday! I think that browning has produced very good bow:nomad stalker 52",wasp 56",nomad stalker1 54",safari ecc...and for me are really underrated.... I think buy another....maybe
I purchased this bow used(40#/52 inch)to use for target practice. I got lucky and found one in excellent shape. the bow is a nice super light bow that it extremely accurate. I was also impressed as to how quiet it is. I was looking at other more expensive used models and am so glad I picked up this one. The fact that it is only a 52 a inch bow initially made me hesitant but I'm telling you, if your a halfway descent shot then this bow will definitely not disappoint. It also draws a lot of interest at the range.
Much less than what it was advertised to be.... It was twisted and not very safe to use without worry of more damage or possible injury to myself. Buyer be aware as I found out. I think in it's day the boy I purchased did a real nice job and looked great.....but, over the years and if the boy was not stored as the manufacture recommends, then problems will and do arrive. Too bad it won't ever go hunting with me.........just a wall hanging art work at this point.......and yes, I spent too much in considering what I ended up with.............way too much....... I think Browning and this model were a real great thing back in the day.....
