This thing has no use whatsoever. I already had a floating glass meter which was very accurate, and a refractor, but wanted something convenient to use for mixing. I did like the instructions said and let it "season" overnight, but tested it before also. Both results were the same. 1.036 reading for water that was certainly 1.024. It was literally beyond the scale. Straight tap water had a gravity of 1.010. WAAAAAY off. I heard of others having hit and miss results with these, but I didn't find out until after I had a problem and looked to see if I was alone. I had many salinity meters over the years, some of this type, but never had one off by more than a tiny bit. It's hard to believe this thing could be so far off without any obvious damage. If it wasn't cheap, I'd return it.

it's not stable. In one minute can vary from 1022 to 1024 the salinity of my aquarium if I follow its readings.
