I have two cats on different dry foods. The feeders work great however I don't use the battery function. I leave them plugged into an outlet. Also, I took the tag comes with two rings a small and big to attach to their collars. I used the small one because it seemed when they when to the feeders the distance from their collar to the RFID mechanism worked much better and always opened the feeder up. With the big one it was hit and miss. Love the feeders.

Good product, well packaged and fast delivery. I love this feeder, it's got a lot of programmable options.I got 2 cats,.one on a special diet and another that steals his food. With the Petsafe RFIDA feeder, once my first cat opens the feeder, the second, greedy cat can push him away and jam her face in the bowl to keep the little door from closing in her face. She can't do that with this feeder, as the closing mechanism is stronger. Got hit by custom fees, but that's nobody's fault I guess.

A life saver for our cat without an eating "off" switch.
System opens and closes smoothly and quietly. It completely eliminates our problem with one of our cats eating the other's food. My only suggestions would be that the door open a little sooner as the cat is approaching. My cat's stood close to it a couple times, wondering why it didn't open. She's since learned to lower her head a bit (making the microchip closer to the unit). It would also be nice if this "sensitivity" was an adjustment the user could make. The other suggestion would be to make the microchip smaller, so my cat (who previously wasn't used to a collar) isn't put off by the clacking noise it makes when she gets close and makes contact with the feeder. A softer or cushioned exterior would also dampen the noise. It may not be perfect, but it's pretty darn close!System opens and closes smoothly and quietly. Not worth the money.
I bought 2 so I could feed my kitties different diets and controlled amounts . Most of the time, neither of the Fur Baby Feeders open when my cats are nearby, wearing the tag that corresponds with that feeder. Occasionally, when it does happen to open, it closes when my cats are trying to eat, which scares them. I finally resorted to just leaving them in the open position which defeats the purpose. Can't teach old cats new tricks
It works as stated. Good quality and nice sized dish. Put the chip on a collar on your pet, they approach and it opens. My complaint and reason for one less star is the low range of the chip reader, pet must be in position with chip in front of bowl. Because of this, you can not use chips your pets have been chipped with. It can not scan or read them. Second a personal issue... cats are unique to put it mildly. If an adult cat who's never worn a collar, doesn't want to wear a collar, they wont, especially a demon ginger cat. Then there is the timid cat who dejectedly accepted the collar but was too terrified to go near the feeder. It did not work for any of my 3 cats. This would probably be great for dogs though. As I said it works like it says but my cats are jerks. A $140 failure, but at ... It works as stated. Good quality and nice sized dish. Great Feeder, many uses and features.
This feeder solved our problems with our over eater, Fat Boy. We have 3 cats, one is the over eater so we can't leave food out. He was eating it all and nothing was left for the other 2. We put tags on the two who do not have to diet, and they can get to their food anytime and self feed. The over eater can't get to it because he doesn't have the tag to open the feeder. We can now feed our Fat Boy separately and with amounts to manage his diet. I think he is losing weight. It took one day for one of our cats to get used to it. The other who is very timid, took a couple of days to get used to it. You just set him close to the feeder and it opens. He caught on. This feeder has a lot of features, as it can time when the feeder opens. But we needed it to keep our Fat Boy from ... This feeder solved our problems with our over eater, Fat Boy.
