Walker Evans Vintage Stamped 6" x 9.5" Photo Mother Children Havana Cuba 1933 For Sale -

Vintage original approximately 6.0" x 9.5" gelatin silver photograph on double weight paper of a woman and children in Havana, Cuba by Walker Evans in 1933. This photo was printed by Evans in the 1930s or 1940s. Evans' vintage hand stamp from that time period is on verso. Provenance is Swann Galleries Sale 2345 Lot very minor scattered imperfections. The feature along the top border above the woman's head and the other similar feature in the top right corner are in the negative and not damage. The scattered areas (along bottom border, infant's head and middle/right doors) that appear softer in contrast with lighter brown are also not faded or discolored due to exposure or some other type of damage. Vintage prints made by Evans during this time period typically have this appearance.This photograph is unframed but it is mounted with Lineco polypropylene mounting corners/strips on mounting board and under a mat of Kensington 4-ply unbuffered 100% cotton rag museum board with total dimensions of approximately 11.0" x 14.0". An approximately 11.0" x 14.0" piece of 1/8" acid free white foamboard backing is also included.UNCONDITIONAL 14 day return period.
