Cohen is my Mom's name but, believe it or not, her birth name, was KITTY Cohen! Kitty was born in Vienna, Austria, an only child. Kitty and her parents came to New York during World War II. Kitty changed her name to Karyn when she turned 18, because she didn't like her name when she was growing up. She was always an animal lover of any kind! She would scold you if you swatted a fly or killed a spider! Kitty loved snakes and rats even! Her favorite animals were dogs, until my brother brought home a stray cat when we were young children.Over time she became obsessed with anything CATS! Our house was like a cat museum. Not an empty spot on the wall or a shelf and everything had a cat on it!!! I mean everything!! Kitty wore clothes, earrings, rings and necklaces with cats. We had 5 or 6 cats at a time , along with dogs and rodents!Kitty spent her later years volunteering in a cat care clinic and rescuing strays! My Mom was a complete free spirit. She loved the sixties and early 70's. She was wacky and quirky- the type of person to talk to anyone , anywhere you went, about anything! Especially if they had a cat!!! :)-------------My friend Carla, Kitty's daughter, came to me asking for help with all of the cats. Her Mom had passed, so Carla went and she wrapped up all the cats and had them shipped from New York to her home in Portland , Oregon. She had about 50 large boxes in storage as she didn't have room at her house for all of her Mom's cats, nor could she keep them all. I told Carla I could help and I would buy them and adopt them to new homes :) I am making a “Kitty Diary” for Carla ( don't tell it's a surprise!!!) so that when all of Kitty's beloved cats are all adopted, I am going to surprise her with the "Kitty Diary"! The Diary will include a brief description of each cat, the city, state and country each cat has moved to! When Carla gave me the cats to sell on , you could see she felt some relief but also some sadness, as they were her Mom's. I think when these beautiful cats have new homes Carla's heart will be joyful and I'm sure a few tears will be shed. Thank you for adopting one of Kitty's cats
