$56.99

Friends, this listing is for a Vintage Silver Enamel GREEK ORTHODOX JERUSALEM PECTORAL Reliquary Crucifix. On the back, this Crucifix is stamped IEPOYEAAHMwhich is Greek for Jerusalem. I don\'t know whether this Crucifix was made in Greece with a relic from Jerusalem or if it was made in Israel as a souvenir for Greek Orthodox tourists. It tests positive as silver, but it\'s not .925 Sterling. It\'s a lower grade of silver; probably 800, 850 or 900 Silver.
Still contains it\'s original relic encased in wax on the inside. The relic looks like its a piece of parchment. This Crucifix is in GOOD condition with MINIMAL signs of wear and a LIGHT patina for its age. It measures 1 and 3/8 inches tall, approximately 3/4 inches wide and 2/16 inches thick. Plus, it weighs 10.1 grams.Pleasenote that I normallyship within 3 Business days of receiving payment.S&H is via USPS First Class Mail Large Envelope. If you need it quickly or want tracking, you may also purchase a Priority Mail Envelope when you checkout and pay

Why the comparison with a Mercury Dime??

First of all, the Mercury Dime (or Winged Liberty Head dime) was produced by the United States government from 1916 to 1945. The coin weighs 2.5 grams and is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper. Today\'s current Roosevelt dime for example is composed of 0% silver.

When I believe a Silver medal or charm hassome age to it, using a Mercury Dime from 1943 (almost 70 years old and90% real silver) in a picture together with the charm or medal can be an invaluable aid in judging age. The comparison shows you what the standard patina and wear really look like on a 70 year old coin and you can judge for yourself whether the charm/medal has more or less wear/patina than the coin and is, therefore, more or less old than the coin. Thanks for looking!
