Vintage Heathkit CR-1 Crystal Radio and Acme Headphones
A 1950\'s crystal radio for the reception of broadcast AM.
Physical condition: Pretty good, not quite mint, see photos. There\'s no cracks in the case or knobs. All components appear present as compared with the diagrams in the manual. Printed manual not present, I have it in .pdf format. I can send that to you or you can find it online.
Using the manual I performed continuity checks, visual inspection of solder joints, proper wiring and correct assembly. Capacitor checker says the two caps are OK. Diode checker says the diode is OK. Ohm meter reads about 4k across the phones, but no sound through phones. Cleaned contacts with DeOxit.
Tested using a multi-band trapped dipole. Connected to audio mixer\'s microphone input. Received approximately half dozen stations with reasonable clarity. I suspect the headphones are not working, couldn\'t get any sound from them.
So the radio appears to work but the headphones do not. Note that some corrosion is present on the headphones.Questions?------------
