"DOGS, THE MELBOURNE SPORTING LIBRARY" by G.A. Melbourne, a first edition 1907, of this 190 page hardback dog book, overall size of book is approx. 14" x 11.5" this is the true first edition in it's original binding, it contains much about the early history of dogs current at the time, there are chapters on the following breeds which include full page and part page photographic black & white illustrations of the breeds, The Collie, Old English Sheepdog, Great Dane, Dalmatian, Bulldog, French Bulldog, Bull Terrier, Boston Terrier, Poodle, Chow Chow, Bloodhound, Borzoi, Beagle, Irish Setter, Spaniel, Pointer, King Charles Spaniel, Blenheim Spaniel, Pomeranian, there are other breeds mentioned but these only have smaller illustrations not full page photographic illustrations. This very rare large dog book published in the USA is complete, the contents are in very good condition, the front cover is a little marked and the top and bottom of the spine are a little worn, this book is missing from a lot of the major dog libraries.
