From the end of the Korean War until the late 1980s, the Free World stretched from the DMZ in Korea to Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin. The 2nd ID had been part of the Eighth Army during Korea, and helped limit Communist expansion to the 38th Parallel. There the "Indianhead" Division remained for the next 60 years warily eyeing the ChiComs and Norks to prevent a further outbreak of aggression. 2nd ID tankers in the 1960s often had local tailors custom make pile lined "tank" jackets for warmth during the frigid Korean winter. This US Army Vietnam Era 2ND ID TANKER BADGED CUSTOM KOREAN MADE TANK JACKET is in good condition, with some dark spot soiling at the middle left front hem, a small hole in the left wrist, some scattered spot mothing to the knit cuffs, two small tears in the upper left back, a bit of loose seam stitching at the lower left side, a few small spots of mothing to the knit collar and waistband, and with some scattered wrinkling and age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the jacket is in fine shape, with no other damage to the tough OD 100% cotton poplin construction. Most interestingly, it bears the classic subdued merrowed edge 2nd ID "Indianhead" patch at the left shoulder, carries a beautiful Korean made subdued embroidered "1/72 CRUSADERS" 1st Battalion, 72nd Armored Regiment "triangle" patch at the left chest, and is adorned with a Korean made subdued embroidered "U.S. ARMY" tab and "CHUNG" name tape at the left and right chest, respectively.
