Unusual very old braided rawhide bosal made with two 3/8 inch pencil bosals :
$16.00

This unusual and unique unmarked bosal was acquired in Northern California sometime during 1930\'s, 1940\'s or the early 1950\'s. The final usable bosal was made by placing two braided rawhide 3/8 inch pencil bosals side by side to form the completed bosal bar. In actuality the final bosal is made from one long braided rawhide 3/8 inch pencil bosal where a loop is one end and the single end pieces make up the other end. The single ends are put through the loop and they are held together by a knot below the loop. The knotted single ends and the other end loop become the heel knot for completed usable bosal. The nose button knot appears to be made from dark braided leather but it could be dark braided rawhide. The nose button knot is 7/8 inches in width and 6 3/4 inches in length. There is one braided rawhide side button on each bar covering both 3/8 inch pencil bosals. The inside length from the nose button knot to the top of the inside heel knot is 10 3/4 inches and the inside width between the two side buttons 3 3/8 inches. The core is probably twisted rawhide strings and it isn\'t a wire because it does not react to magnet. All of the braided rawhide parts and the braided leather nose button knot are in good shape. But its flexibility is stiff between the bars below the nose button knot.
