The villagers imitate Spaniards by wearing wire mesh masks, as well several other characters who wear different kinds of masks. This mask is worn by the Chuto, who is an indigenous character who does not dance the group, but revolves around it making jests and entertaining the audience. This mask has been heavily used, as is evident from the sweat stains and wear; it is quite old.
