Thisis a great trumpet and a top-quality student instrument made by oneof the best music names in the world. Made by Getzen, this is a 390model trumpet. The 390 is a student design that plays as well as mostintermediate horns. The serial number is K82933, which dates the hornto about 1980. The trumpet has a beautiful NEW Satin blast finish onthe body and a Brushed bell interior with a clear lacquer topcoat.The slides, caps, and buttons are polished nickel and brass withclear lacquer. The horn had several dents on the bell flair, tube,crook, and slides. It shows a few remnants from the dent removal onthe bell tube and flair and a few small ripples on the bell crook andslides. Getzentrumpets are always in demand since they always have powerful opentones and are easy blowing. This one is very nice playing as I haveplayed this horn while I was doing the work on it to remove a lot ofdings and dents (Melanie said I sound great on this horn, lol, asalways) on the bell and slides. TheGetzen website describes this horn as:

.460\"medium-large bore, 4-3/4\" seamless brass bell with reinforcedwire rim, Nickel silver pistons with nylon valve guides and enclosedbarrel-shaped bronze valve springs, adjustable third valve slidefinger ring, two amado waterkeys.

I ultrasonic cleaned the horn thenstripped the old lacquer. The dent work and burnshing was done andthen the body of the horn was bead blasted and then clear lacquered.Then the slides, caps, and buttons were polished and lacquered. Thebell interior was Brushed and then clear lacquered to finish thehorn. The horn was then re-assembled and adjusted to provide topnotch playing. The Amado keys on the slides were rebuilt and have newsprings in them. I adjusted it and put in new valve felts to alignthe valves. There are also new “O” rings on the third valveslide. There is also a nice new plastic stop for the third slide soit cannot fall out. This Getzen plays full and with ease in allregisters. I have a 900 Eterna, and this horn sounds almost as goodas it. It slots as well as any student model I have ever played.Getzen designed it to be as good as any intermediate horn and itlives up to that easily! The horn also has nickel tubes outside andinside with nickel bands on the slides! It\'s in great mechanicalcondition - all the slides work smoothly, including the first andthird which are usually frozen and require some kind of repair. Thevalves work freely and smoothly and return back into place with ease.The valves have new felts on the inside to align them and also on thetops. The valves have very slight wear and they are fast and havegood seal. Getzen has long been known for their superior valves!There are no big dents in any of the tubing and as we said earlier,just a few small dings and remnants from 37+ years of normal studentwear that we felt were too small to remove. The bell is in good shapeand has this engraving: Getzen, 300 Series, Elkhorn Wis, USA. Thereare NO missing pull tabs on the slides (RARE in a used horn) and theypull easily. Cosmetically the horn has imperfections that show upclose (a few small pings and ripple marks in the brass), but from 5feet away it still looks NEW! Looks wise, the horn up close stillrates a solid 9 on a 10 scale. The horn is ready to play and producea great sound for you! The trumpet comes with a 7C mouthpiece, whichis a great playing medium depth and medium width cup piece. You alsoget a NEW Galveston gig bag, which you see in the pictures. The caseis designed to carry as a suitcase, over the shoulder, or as abackpack. It is black outside and a clean padded black on the inside.It has plenty of space in the zippered pockets next to the horn foryour valve oil and accessories. There is a spot for a mouthpiece.This is a nice looking case! This is your chance – there are lotsof trumpets made in China that play terribly and lots of new Americanhorns that are far overpriced.
