Thisis an outstanding trumpet and a top-quality instrument by F E Olds inFullerton California. Olds was long known for his fantastic designsand great playing instruments. The Ambassador has long been thoughtof as the best student trumpet ever made. Many pro players still usethem as back up horns. They are still sought by many comeback playerssince they play so well. The serial number is 710432, which shoulddate the horn to late 1969. The best thing about this horn is thegreat tone and intonation it has. The logo on the horn says:

Ithas a NEW clear epoxy lacquer finish. The horn has a totalrestoration and looks new! I played this horn and did the finaladjustments to let someone play it on a top level. The horn was soniccleaned and then the lacquer was stripped. I did the dent work andthen sent it to be lacquered in Elkhorn Wisconsin. It really is aclassic beauty that will play! I have played it and it has awonderful full clear tone, and a nice bright sound (Melanie said Isound great on this horn, lol, as always). It plays free and easy inall registers. It plays full and in tune from the bottom of the staffto the top. In my opinion it plays as well as any modern intermediatetrumpet and better than some pro models! It's in excellent mechanicalcondition - all the tuning slides work smoothly, including the firstand third which are usually frozen and require some kind of repair.The horn has NO missing slide pulls (rare in a used horn) or issues.The valves work freely and spring back into place with ease and havenew felts and corks in them. The valves have very light wear and theywork very smooth! The horn plays very full all the way into peddletones. There are NO dents in any of the tubing and as we saidearlier, this horn is MINT. I have tried to capture the engravingthat is hard to read in the pictures. Many of the Olds horns had verylight engraving and from years of wear it rubs smooth. It really hada very light buff from the lacquer guys in Elkhorn. I really LOVE theold Olds sound and it can really play! The horn has new spit valvecorks and springs. The third valve slide has new “O” rings toquiet it when using the ring. The trumpet comes with the originalOlds mouthpiece. The mouthpiece has some light plating wear on theshank, but the rim and cup are still in great shape. I am alsoincluding a NEW MTS vacu-form hard case. The outside is black withthe MTS logo and the inside is black colored plush. There is storagefor one mouthpiece and a space next to the horn for accessories. Thisis your chance - why spend upwards of $900 for a trumpet (Yamaha hasthe YTR 23XX student model now that goes for $900+) when you can pickthis up for a lot less than that?
