The Technics SL-1200 Ltd Limited Gold Turntable is a special limited edition 24 karat gold plated version of the SL-1200 M3D turntable that was introduced in 1997 to mark the 25th anniversary of the SL-1200 series. There were only 10,000 units made and sold worldwide. Based on the M3D model, it has a piano black gloss finish and the tonearm & accessories were gold plated. Differences between the SL-1200M3D and the SL-1200MK2 The SL-1200M3D has these differences from the original MK2: 1) power switch is sunken to prevent accidental turn-off. 2) includes a quartz lock button which resets the pitch control to zero (regular speed) immediately. 3) no "click" at zero on the pitch control 4) comes with a high quality Technics 2 piece slipmat. 5) Dust cover does not include hinges. It functions beautifully and the durability and construction are unmatched. The body and major components are made of steel. The bottom of the body is made of a dense rubber that eliminates distortion and response and adds extra weight for stability. Most of the basic parts are readily available and user replaceable.
