Collectedin the 1960's by a manager of a large multi-national firm who spent 25 yearsliving and working in PNG in the East New Britain area around Kokopo, this is avery fine vintage carved Ancestor House Cult Mask from the Torembi Village,Sawos, East Sepik, Papua New Guinea. The village of Torembi is one of severalinhabited by members of the Sawos tribe. It lies mostly within the forest, buton the edge of the kunai. This is part of a wonderful collection amassed bythis individual (who wishes to remain anonymous) and her husband over a 25 yearperiod and brought back to Australia in the early 90's. Over 600 pieces intotal.
