Hand painted cotton thangka canvass (20cmx24cm) in the center of this wall hanging has silk brocade 47cmx65cm (18.5"x25.5") around it. This wall hanging weighs 220gm (8 ounce). Two wooden sticks at the upper and the lower ends inside brocade keep this thangka straight when it hangs from a nail in a wall. Medicine Buddha in this painting is sitting in ground touching meditative posture with his legs crossed. He is wearing monastic robe. His hair is short and curly. He has longer ears. His left hand is lying in his lap in meditation mudra (posture). He is holding a medicine bowl in his left palm. He attained “Bodhi” or knowledge after six years in fasting and meditation and then he was called “Buddha” as he was then “enlighted”. This painting can be used as meditation point to hold mind during meditation/yoga.
