Description Asuperb large very heavy antique Georgian solid sterling silverpot pourri box weighing almost 7.75 troy ounces, with beautiful pierced silver lidand with English silver hallmarks for London 1813. Lovely quality example and ahandsome largesize with tight fitting pull-off silver lid. Attractive reeded edge andwith a nice clean interior. No engraved inscriptions or monograms, has a fine engraved estate crest on the lid depicting "2 eagles, one holding a flag", which would be well worth researching.

Measurements Really niced one size, measures approx6.7 inches (170mm) x 2.1 inches (54mm) and is 1.45 inches (37mm) deep. Weight Fine heavy substantial box, weighs approx 240 grams. Date Full set of English silver hallmarks for London 1813, (date letter "S") on the lid, the base has English silver hallmarks for London 1823, (date letter "h"), slightly differing dates, the original box was possibly lost and a new one purposely made a few years later as it is the perfect tight fit. ConditionLovely condition, no splits or cracks and no knocks or dents either, made from a good thick gauge of sterling silver.Beautiful qualitypierced work on the lid, has a small repair juston the piercedarea around the cartouche, only visible from inside.The silver lid is a superb tight fit.
