Xtreme Bio Media: have 870 sq.f.t ofsurface areas per cubic foot, provide tremendous surface for bacterialcolonization, it is the highest on the market today (beads typically yield300-400 square ft per cubic foot). The design of the media was carefully chosenso that the media are tubular type which prevent clumping, and channelingwithin the media bed. With the ridges on the outer wall provide a standoffbetween media, and the fins extend to the center provide extra surface forbacterial growth. The hollow tube design allows hi flow through of water andoxygen, not only promotes healthy growth of the bio film but also reduces backpressure exerted on the pump which increases the pump efficiency. Xtreme BioMedia are neutrally buoyant in water. With a downward flow, the media create adense packing that traps dirt and debris within the cavities. They require avery little agitation to unpack. Dirt and debris trapped within the mediapacking can be easily flushed out to the waste line during DiffuserAssembly: Our diffuser has made cleaning your filter (backwash)effortless. Cleaning is reduced to less than 5 minutes, once a month. No needto disassemble the filter parts, no pads to clean, no need to touch the dirtyand stinky mess.
