It can be used with or without the base and has ornate features. The cage by itself measures approximately 31” at the base and 48” to the top of the finial. The overall height is approximatley 74” tall. when using the base. Even the base tray has an ornate design and the finial - oh boy - just beautiful! There is really a lot of ornate trim around the base where it meets the actual cage. This is really a stunning piece! It is very HEAVY
