RARE CRAIGHEAD & KINTZ COCKATOO & TURTLE KEROSENE BANQUET LAMP For Sale -

Up for sale is a VERY RARE ORIGINAL Craighead & Klintz Kerosene Banquet Lamp Cockatoo and Turtle Lamp, c. 1890. This lamp came from a New York Estate Collection around 30 years ago. The lamp has the original Pigeon Blood Slag Glass shade that came with the lamp as well as the chimney marked Lansing Bros. Albany with a crown emblem(austria). Some have attributed this lamp to Bradley & Hubbard but my research shows Craighead & Klintz. The lamp measures 24 inches tall and 12 inches wide. It weighs 15 pounds. The shade measures 10 inches wide and 9 inches tall. There is no damage to the cockatoo base and it has its original unblemished carbon finish. There is a inclusion in one of the glass eyes. The shade is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The metal work on the shade is in very good condition. The original untouched burner is marked Improved Duplex, BB&C Company. The lamp has been carefully electrified but no alteration has been made to the lamp to take away from its original oil lamp condition. The lamp came from a Lake Home Estate in New York. This is the only original condition lamp with its original shade and chimney I have seen through the years. You will have a hard time ever seeing another one in this fine original condition or with such a rare and outstanding pigeon glass shade. The lamp will make a great addition to ones lamp collection.
