Here's a perfect version of the Poole Pottery coloured stoneware KITTEN CLEANING measuring around 6" in length. It was part of a Cat and Kitten series released in the mid 1990s and I've included a photo of the series taken from the Poole Pottery Collectors' Club magazine dated Winter 1996 - this model is featured in the centre of the back row. Since their stoneware production finished around this time I suspect these were among the last items in the stoneware range produced by Poole Pottery. The acrylic painted versions were produced in far fewer numbers than the plain stoneware ones and were priced one-third higher to cover the additional time spent on applying the colours. They were only sold from the Poole Pottery Shop on the Quay in Poole and thus not easily available unless you visited the shop. These two factors mean that they are rather rare items.
All Cats and Kittens in the series were produced in low quantities at the tail-end of the stoneware period, so this is a rare opportunity to start collecting them. Basemarks are the POOLE ENGLAND impressed lozenge and the monogram of its finisher.
IMPORTANT.
I have received numerous broken items which were badly, even irresponsibly packaged, and understand the disappointment this causes, and the often disproportionate amount of time it takes to resolve the matter.
Usually, whether insurance is taken or not, the end result is unsatisfactory andresults inthe loss to the world of the item.
POLICY.
With this in mind, my policy is ALWAYS to package to minimise risk of damage in the post - regardless of the value of the item - within the constraints of cost thresholds.
I recommend insurance, particularly for the more valuable items, but will ensure that any insurance claim will not be invalidated on the grounds of faulty packaging, and will make a full refund in the event of breakage upon return of the item/s and take full responsibility for the work involved in making
the claim.
I use the best available packaging materials and make NO CHARGE for this service. Postage is charged at cost.
