For offer is an original circa 1880’s Cowboys / Western photographs showing a crew “Branding a Maverick” with the light-coated horse lying on the ground as one cowboy brands the horse while two others hold it with ropes. The photograph was taken by pioneer Western photographer W. G. Walker of Cheyenne, Wyoming. This photo is part of a series that’s listed on the back of the mount board. The series is titled, “Walker’s Views of Cowboy Life and the Cattle Business.” This photo was number 28 of a series of 80 photographs. It’s a beautiful, clear photograph printed on albumen photographic paper. The photo shows at least nine or ten men seated on or standing near the crude wooden fence. There are Three men visible on horseback and four men working near the horse on the ground. The photo itself measures just under 8 inches by under 5 inches. The board backing is chipped on the corners and has paper loss to the back with a small nick to the right area. There are some old stamps on the back, including a May 10, 1898 “Received” Stamp. It was also stamped by the American Book Company. Please let me know if you have any questions whatsoever.
