This early pineapple club comes from the Angu People or Kukukuku as they are commonly referred to who live in the Morobe Province of New Guinea. It was collected off them in the 1950\'s but would predate it collection age and since then has been held in a private museum for the last 65 years. The stone head has very prominent projections which are in great shape and it is securely held to a hardwood shaft with woven cane bindings. The handle has a deep glossy patina with only a minor age crack - see last photo. It measures 85cm in height and the stone head 8cm high and 8cm wide.
