LOOK Classic EF Johnson Thunderbolt Amplifier MANY MODS PERFORMED For Sale -

Up for offerding is a nice classic E.F. Johnson Thunderbolt amplifier. It is a daily user from a non-smoking environment. It has allits knobs and switches.There have been numerous replacement of components and work performed to the unit. These include:

1. Installation of a computer-grade top chassis fan

2. Replaced the low-voltage transformer

3. Replaced the high-voltage power transformer

4. Replaced the PLATE switch

5. Replaced both grid screen resistors with 2% tolerance type

6. Replaced grid resistor with 2% tolerance type

7. Replaced the input coax SO-239 connector (the original had cracked insulation)

8. Replaced the input coax from RG-58 to MIL-SPEC low-lossRG-213 type

9. Cleaned and DeOxit all band-switch wafers

10. Sprayed DeOxit on meter and mode switch wafers

11. Modified R115 from a 2K-ohm to 3.5K-ohm as per the manual

12. All filter electrolytic capacitors and bleeder resistors have been replaced

The grid bias connector has been hard-wired from a previous owner, but you can change from "block bias" to "operate bias" status and vice versaby changing the connectors at the end of the hard-wiring. I will include a pair of 4-400A tubes, but they are very weak and will need to be replaced soon. The 4-400s have the high-efficiency plate caps which I'm including. Also included are four spare/untested HV rectifier tubes, the original rareAC power cord with original three-prong connector which plugs into the back of the amplifier, and several spare/untested voltage regulator tubes. Sorry, no manual is included but can be downloaded on-line. I will remove the HV transformer and tubes from the unit and ship in separate boxes to ensure safe arrival. Local pick-up is also an option. The unit isVERY heavy at 120 lbs. This is a nice piece for the E.F. Johnson aficionado. Please ask questions and, as always, offer with total confidence.
