The JPS NRF-7 general purpose audio processing unitprovides a number of functions that improve the receiving conditions for radioamateurs and shortwave listeners. The unit reduces or eliminates atmospheric(white/pink) noise and multiple heterodynes. A dynamic peaking filter reducesthe effect of white noise outside the audio bandwidth by creating individualand constantly-varying passband filters around speech components. This reduceswhite noise by dynamically excluding those portions of the passband that do notcontain speech. The LED tuning indicator provided is usable in all filter modesto show when the desired signal is within the filter passband and operateswhether the filter is engaged or not. The unit operates on radio receiver audiooutputs then provides its own clean audio from the built-in amplifier to anexternal 3 - 8 ohm speaker.
