Jewel Aquarium Very Rare Custom Solid Cast Brass w/Marble Antique. Incredible :
$24500.00

Very Rare Custom Solid Brass w/Marble top and solid copper Seahorse legs Aquarium Antique. Cost me $15,000 some 23 years ago. I bought it at an antique store in Chicago. I don't know anything about it other then the fact that I enjoyed it over these past 23 years. Someone contacted me seeing it on and told me that it's was probably made in the 1920-1930's by Jewel Aquarium of Chicago. There are no markings or name plates anywhere that I can find, so I can't be sure.

Upon further research on line, someone else writes that some guy made 6 of these models back in the 1990's. I didn't buy it from this purported maker, but from an antique store called Richard O'Hares Antiques on Wells Street, who since has gone out of business. So I can't be sure if I have a reproduction or one from 1920-1930's since I'm not a fish tank expert. I saw it some 23 years ago in an antique store, loved it and bought it paying $15,000 for it.

Maybe someone out there knows better what it is. If it's an antique made in the 1920-1930's, then for sure it's worth at least double of what I'm asking. If it's a reproduction made later, then you still have a beautiful cast tank that's a talk and a show piece when someone sees it. If you buy it, you will no doubt enjoy it as much as I did. I love this tank as it brought me years of pleasure. It is soothing on the eyes and magical in appearance. TRULLY a rarity in antique or reproduction, whichever it is.

Another person recently contacted me and told me that it's a reproduction and that in the 1990's 24 of these were made and that 2 of them sold in 2014 at Leslie Hindman sales in the mid teens. So whichever way you look at it, my price is correct.

It is currently in Europe. I can have it crated and shipped or you. Very heavy. You will need 3/4 people to move it empty, it's that heavy.

Just needs cleaning and I'm in the process of cleaning it.

Never leaked. Used as both salt and fresh water, but mostly salt, hence the slight oxidation on copper.

Measures 50" high, 46", wide, 26" deep.

I love this tank. It is TRULLY for the collector who enjoys the fish hobby and appreciates fine art and antiques.

Pictures shown are before cleaning and after and cleaning continues. Unfortunately in order to clean it, the patina is being removed but it still shows its rich age and history as plenty aged patina is left, truly timeless.

If shipping will cost less then $1,200 then I will gladly refund the difference.

My price of $16,500k is FIRM and not negotiable !!!! Please don't waste your time emailing me offers. If you can find another one cheaper, then please buy that one.
