Indian War Model 1881 prairie belt 45/70:
$406.00

This is a model 1881 prairie belt. There are 45 loops made for the 45/70 bullet. The hook on the side is for asaber, and grommets for additional accouterments. Measures roughly 39 inches from the buckle to the tailand about 3 inches wide. Sheltonstyle style buckle, the excess belt gets slipped behind the the canvas. I believe this was suppose to be more of a khaki, you can still see some of the original color between the loops. The canvas is in good shape, other than being dirty. There is a little bit of fraying around the end of some of the loops. The loops are woven into the belt not sewn onto the outside. The leather ends are sewn on, as is correct. The leather is a little dry and the finish has cracks in it. The leather is still pliable, could use a little oil though. On the exterior of the belt it is stamped in the leather tail, \"D,\" \"42.\" On the back of the tail there is an inspectors mark, \"JCB.\" On the other end by the buckle it is stamped on the exterior, \"58,\" and \"42.\" It is hard to see but the \"42\" intersects the \"58\" perpendicularly right down the middle. There is some green corrosion on the brass parts and in some of the loops from bullet casings. Belt is very strong and everything moves freely. Good to add to a collection, take out for a light day of shooting with your trapdoor, or a living history.
AMMUNITIONIS NOT INCLUDED, IT IS STRICTLY TO HELP DISPLAY THE BELT
