2.8 kHz IF Filter for Drake TR-7
This is a brand new filter that was designed for the Drake TR-7. It has a typical -6 dB bandwidth of 2.820 kHz with less than a 6 dB insertion loss ( Typically 5.0 dB ), a shape factor of 1.7 and the ultimate attenuation of the filter is aminimum of70 dB. It installs directly into the IF Selectivity board with the two mounting studs and 3 soldered connections. There are 2 brass tabs that also make connection to the ground shields on the board to insure the 70 dB of ultimate attenuation.
This filter is designed to replace the stock 2.3 kHz main filter in the radio. It will add an additional 500 Hz of range to the frequency response of the passband. Typically the audio range will start at around 300Hz and go to 3.1 kHz instead of being limited to 2.6 kHz with the original filter. The spectrum plots show the bandwidth, symmetry, passband flatness and insertion loss of the filter as well as the ultimate attenuation. The BFO carrier frequencies will need to be reset for the new filter to achieve the best carrier and opposite sideband rejection. The installation manual describes the procedure for this adjustment.
While this filter was primarily designed to be used with a TR-7/R7 radio, it can also be used as an economical general purpose SSB filter for a homebrew receiver / transceiver. It provides excellent passband characteristics at a reasonable cost. If you need matching crystals for a BFO I can also supply those at a cost of $5 each. An oscillator circuit will be supplied that will show values for using the crystals in a circuit that can be tuned for USB or LSB operation. Let me know if you want the crystals before payment and I will adjust the invoice accordingly.
I have shipped 44 of these filters now as well as my 1.8 kHz and 400 Hz versions. Check my response on these items. There is also a review on eham.net (search Noble Radio in reviews).
The filters can be returned within 30 days from purchase if they do not perform as specified. The purchase price will be refunded but not the shipping costs. The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. The filter is supplied with the documentation for installation and carrier frequency adjustment.
I ship international but please ask for shipping costs before payment.
I will be happy to answer any questions.
Thanks for looking,
