DH132 CVC Helmet Prototype Radio Headset SPH4 Rare VIC1 Intercom PRC77 RT524:
$50.00

This is a tested, working HCCAPS type III headset. HCCAPS stands for Helmet Compatible Communication/Aural Protective System. This headset has very strange earphones with a large pod below and behind the actual earphone. It is only a guess on my parr, but i imagine this contains some early attempt at active noise reduction. I cannot find much information on this headset, which leads me to believe it was never mass produced. The limited information that I can find is from testing trials at Natick from 1984 to 1986 when the army was looking for headsets for use in loud environments, specifically the Bradley fighting vehicle and in helicopters. The objective was to develop enhanced technology for use in the sph4 and dh132 helmets. From the trials, it appears that this HCCAPS type III was ultimately rejected, along with type II and IV. I tested this headset with a VIC1 intercom, and it works fine. It has KC1 marked on one earphone. It does not have a mic, and I could not identify anywhere for a mic input on the headset, so I presume it was intended for monitor only situations.US sales only.
