Disney Company dolls can be divided in two basic groups: The ones that are designed for exclusive distribution at Disney Stores and those that are Disney licensed and made by third party companies like Mattel and those are distributed through any toy stores and other mega and mini markets.
The difference between Disney Store bought dolls and others is huge. The Disney Store dolls are of superior quality, realistic design, choice of most excusiite fabrics. Those toys are very true to the on screen characters. While much more expensive then licensed dolls found at other stores, they are always superior in every way. The Disney Store dolls can be divided further into standard basic quality dolls and deluxe dolls that oftentimes enjoy very short limited editions and inherently are never offered again once sold out. Disney company tradition is to make changes to every new model of deluxe doll edition and so you never
buy the same exact model twice. This Eric doll offered here is a Disney Store Deluxe doll is a typical example of it. It has been released for the 2009/2010 holiday season and only very limited amount distributed exclusively via Disney Stores. Other Eric dolls offered since were not Deluxe dolls and therefore do not have the superior materials, features and fabrics. If you look at other editions of Eric dolls there are none to compare within this classic 12" size. The other dolls are standard economy types with lots of changes that make them affordable. For one - Eric is not offered anymore at this time and probably for a good while - in his fancy prince outfit but in the sailor outfit. That is in major part due to the economy that forces companies to resolve to economizing and simplifying to provide affordable products. This is your last chance for probably a very long time to get a great quality Eric doll for your Disney Princess doll or collection. You don't find them anymore anywhere because they are SO rare and so sought after by parents and collectors. While this is still a fully functional gorgeous doll toy for kids, it is at the same time a gem of any collection. It is a collector's grade doll and as such it is very valuable.
