CEDARCUTTS CUSTOM CARVED DOG BONE SHAPE WOOD SIGNHOWDY! This 1" x 3.5" x 10" Red Cedar sign is an example of the unique sign I will make just for you and your best friend! Combining the distinctive color and grain patterns of this beautiful wood with your personalized name and design, the two of us will create a truly one-of-a-kind sign.

I start with 1" cedar, carefully matching each piece of wood to the message to be carved. The layout is all done freehand, as is the actual router carving, using different V-groove bits as needed to vary the width and depth of the cuts. The photos show a variety of different names, so you can better visualize what your custom sign will look like, with the last photo showing a set of signs I did for a clinic. Names shorter than 5 or 6 letters might look better on the 8" version of this sign. After the name is carved the edges are scalloped, black paint is applied, and the entire board is finish sanded.

The final step is applying the clear protective sealer. All of my signs are sealed on the back and edges, along with the front, to make them as water and sun resistant as possible. This requires multiple coats of UV resistant varnish, and each coat needs to dry thoroughly before the next is applied. Depending upon temperature and humidity, this process may take up to 5 or 6 days.

The completed sign will last for years (decades with proper refinishing) and be a totally unique addition to your, or a friend's, dog house or kennel!

Each sign comes complete with hanging and refinishing instructions. For outdoor use, I recommend that you bolt or screw your sign directly to the post or structure where it will be displayed. Hooks and chain or sawtooth hangers are not secure in high winds, and are not included, but if requested I can add a couple of small mounting holes.

Total work time, from payment to shipping, is generally about 7-10 days. Two or more signs ordered together are shipped via Priority Mail...individual signs via First Class Mail.
