HENRY RICHARD VASSALL FOX, 3rd BARON HOLLAND, British Politician Autograph letter signed, 1792?. This antique stampless folded letter appears to be addressed to "Mr. Bryant New West Place, West Square, Southwark. The ten lined letter measures approx. 7 x 9 inches and is signed "Vassal Holland." The letter written on fine hand laid paper is about the Alien act. The letter reads:
"I will not fail to present your petition - my only doubt is about the time - The Alien Bill is not yet in the House of lords - the argument waged against it is very strong & should the proceedings in King's message go on, will I hope have some effort against the Alien Bill in Parliament & with the publick."
The Alien Act 1793 was an Act of the Parliament of Great Britain regulating immigration into the country and became law om January 8, 1793.
Henry Richard Vassall-Fox, 3rd Baron Holland, of Holland and 3rd Baron Holland, of Foxley (1773-1840) was an English politician and a major figure in Whig politics in the early 19th century.
