These glass shards are the by product of the stained glass manufacturing process and were found along the foundation of a long closed Pennsylvania glass factory. My understanding is that, once a batch of glass was swirled to create a certain color combination for sheet glass, it could not be remelted because the colors would combine into an unattractive tone. Once there was not enough glass left in the crucible, they would pour out the remaining color into barrels and layers of different colors inside the barrels create this by product.. Years later we were able to recover this beautiful glass and offer it to you! This beautiful colored cullet has many uses;

Fish Tanks, Aquariums, Tumble It, Make Jewelry Out Of It,
Mosaics, Arts And Crafts, Professional Art

The sky is the limit as far as possibilities go...

Some of this cullet is still a little dirty from having been buried. We have sprayed it, but have not done a final clean . We figured that we would leave the final cleaning to the happy buyer so that we can leave a little value for having to throw in some elbow grease. We could have done a final clean and charged 5 bucks per pound like others do, but we figured as is for 1 buck per pound was the kinder of our options. The picture in this ad is a representation of one of our happy customers boxes that shipped recently. Each box contains a varietyof shades and sizes, we do not guarantee any particularcolor variations or sizes, it's completely random. Ifyou are interested in what colors are prominentin our current lots just sendus an email and we'll take a look and let you know.

I hope that you grow to love this stuff as much as we have.

About Us

MD Historic Salvage is a different type of recycling company. We have operated in Baltimore and surrounding areas since 1996. After starting out rescuing fireplace mantles and cast iron door locks from construction dumpsters, we have opened our eyes to many types of waste that are overlooked and often fall through the cracks. Our focus is, and will always be vintage items of the highest quality. All of our items are salvaged and are for the most part American made. One week we could be in an old school, the next week a factory, and the following week a Shipyard or Power Plant. One day we may be removing Vintage lighting, the next Signs and Vintage blueprints, and the following day we clean out the Machine shop and parts crib.

We literally have NO idea what we have coming around the corner, so make sure you add us to your favorites and check back often . ALSO, check out our sister site Architectural Rescue for items of a morecollectiblenature.

We are not a non-profit, but prefer to call ourselves a VIRTUALnon-profit. You can help us change that by purchasing our finds from our store, and offerding vigorously on our sales. With your support, it will better enable us to track down historic job sites to salvage before it's to late.
