Up for offer is this original turn of the century 8 day time and strike Seth Thomas Adamantine clock. The movement counts out the hour in a deep rich tone on a cathedral gong, and strikes once on the half hour on a bell.

There is a partial label on the back of the clock as shown.

Most noteworthy, the feet and metal case ornaments maintain their original gilding - this is fairly rare as most clocks that I have seen on seem to have lost this finish or someone painted them with gold paint..

The Adamantine finish is innice condition, consistant with being used and well cared for 100 or more years. As expected there are minor chips , and variations of color consistant with its age (see pics). Please note that the 'etching' in the adamantine still has good color and visibility. I wiped down the finish with a soft cloth moistened with Pledge.

Most importantly, I ran the clock for several weeks. It keeps fairly good time but will need you to adjust the pendulum to keep better time. This is done byturing the nut at the base of the pendulum bobto raise the pendulum down or up or by inserting the small end of the winding keyto the shaft in the small hole below the center of the dial. There is a 's' and 'f' direction to turn it to speed up or slowdown the movement. Unlike the battery and electrical clocks of today, all these spring driven antique clocks require this fine tuning. The clock chimes appropriately.

I have taken many pictures so that you can completely inspect the clock. This way, the clock will arrive exacly as you expect it.

As I did not overhaul the clock, I am selling it 'as is'. The movement looks very well maintained. The seller stated that her parents had a clock man oil it every year. I purchased this clock earlier this year at a tag sale at Cape Cod.

As far as I can tell the case, movement, hands, pendulum, dial, gong are original. The key is a replacement. This is a very clean well cared for unrestored clock - not fooled with in any way.

Shipping weight ....will be about14 lbs. This clock is doubled boxed. If I should over charge on the shipping cost because my estimated weight is higher than the actual weight ,a refund of the over charge for shipping will be given back thru PayPal.
