ANTIQUE J.J. ELLIOTT TALL CASE CLOCK For Sale -

The name of Elliott has been synonymous with quality clocks for well over 100 years. In 1865, James Jones Elliott of 156 Cheapside in the City of London was apprenticed to 'Bateman' of 82nd John Street, Smithfield, London to learn the Art of clock making. J.J. Elliott died on April 16, 1904. This elegant clock was purchased in 1971 by a man in Pennsylvania that had collected some of the finest clocks. The clock is mahogany. The face is painted with scenes of Shakespear's House, Anne Hathaway's cottage, Stratford Church and the Memorial Theatre. It has the Ornate Elliott dial with phases of the moon and nicely detailed world globes. There is a spider just under the moon that was suppose to be one of Elliott's trademarks. It has hand cut filed hands, original brass pendulum and weights and key. It has the original finish, an eight day movement and plays a wonderful old church chime on the half hour and the hour. The clock has two turned columns in front and paneled keystone shaped side windows. It has a broken arch; it does not have the finials that go on top. It has the arched door; it is clean and runs perfectly. All clocks need to be adjusted after moving. It has two claw feet. The clock is also marked/incised on the back of the brass painted movement: J.J.Elliott London, England and a registry number. This mark is in a position that is not possible for me to photo.
