As far as I have been able to determine these binoculars were widely used by the French military in World War 1, and may have been officially issued. Also, I have some reason to believe that these were brought back by a U.S. serviceman from Europe after WW1, but can't say for certain. The optics are dirty but I can see no obvious cracks or other damage to the glass. Both eyepiece adjustments are frozen but possibly could be lubricated and made to function, in general these binocs are possibly a good candidate for restoration, if anyone does that (?). The case is in solid condition overall but is missing the central panel of the lid/top. The leather covering on the binoculars looks much more brown in the photos, these look almost black when seen in ordinary light. Happy to answer any questions as best I can.
